Gary Lee Van Vleck

IONIA-Gary Lee VanVleck, age 75, passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday, 
September 14, 2021 in Ionia. He was born December 25, 1945 in Ionia, Michigan 
the son of Eugene and Ruth (Vos) VanVleck. Gary married Patrece Mellinger June 
6, 2009. He worded for the Michigan Department of Corrections for 26 years, was 
a special deputy for Ionia County Sheriff Department for 36 years and as a 
process server. He loved hunting, fishing, motorcycling and powered parachuting.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Patrece VanVleck of Ionia; 
children, Renee Cherry of Milton, Fl, Gary Lee Van Vleck Jr. of Ionia, Cristi 
(Chris) Brimmer of Rockford and Kelli (Chris) Weeks of Saranac; grandchildren, 
Rachael, Kassandra, Sabrina and Wyatt; 4 great grandchildren; brother Roger 
VanVleck of Saranac and one sister Yvonne (Roger) Maurer of Orleans.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, September 24th at Renucci's in Ionia, 
538 N.State St., Ionia, MI 48846. Cremation has taken place and there will  a 
celebration of life at a later date.Arrangements cared for by Lake Funeral Home
