Theodore Judson Wandel, 92, of Ionia, passed away January 22, 2014 in Lansing.  
He was born August 16, 1921 in Lyons the son of Elba and Mary (Lee) Wandel. 

Theodore married Lavone Gardner in 1976.  She later passed in 2008.  He was a 
member of the Sheridan VFW, Ionia Commission on Aging, Euchre Club, and Shiloh 
Community Church.  Theodore enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and traveling. 

Theodore is survived by his children, Susan (Tom) Verellen of Shelby Twp., Dave 
(Pam) Ciganick of Bellaire, Connie Coates of Florida, Shirley Malloy of North 
Carolina, Jim (Cindy) Wandel of Springport, Paul (Bev) Wandel of Mulliken and 
Betty Lou (Ed) Wise of Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Laurel Wandel of Onondaga; 
brother, Dale (Linda) Wandel of Ionia; sisters, Eudora Ludwick of Ionia, 
Dorothy (Tom) Eckley of Ionia, and Betty (Wayne) Keefer of Arkansas; 27 
grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  He was 
preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lavone Wandel; son, Gary Wandel; 
brothers, Leslie, Alfred, and Robert Wandel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 25 at Shiloh 
Community Church with Pastor Ken Harger officiating.  Visitation will be held 
3-7 p.m. Friday, January 24 at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  In lieu of flowers, 
contributions may be made in Theodore’s name to the Sheridan VFW.
