Hazel Whorley, 56, wife of Royce L. Whorley, died at the University hospital in Ann Arbor Thursday at 9 p.m. She had a been a patient there off and on since March. Mr. Whorley is chairman of the county board of supervisors. She was born July 27, 1894, at Bowling Green, O., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert E. Loomis. As a child, she moved with her parents to Pewamo. She attended county normal and taught rural schools in the county until her marriage to Mr. Whorley in Ionia in 1918. Since then she lived at the farm home in Easton. Mrs. Whorley was a member of the First Methodist Church of Ionia, the Dildine Community club and was Easton township treasurer in 1940. Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Miss Joyce, of Lansing; a son, John J. of Lansing; and six sisters, Mrs. Arthur Randall of Ionia, Mrs. C.A. Coil of Vanderbilt and Mrs. Allen Shank, Mrs. David Anselmino, Mrs. Lester Looman and Miss Alice Loomis. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home, Dr. Howard Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Easton cemetery.
