Mrs. Wilkes was born May 15, 1922, at Belding, the daughter of Stephen and Marguerite Lindley. She attended Belding and Lansing Schools and was a member of the National Genealogy Society. She lived in the Pewamo-Muir area for 27 years, moving to Stanton two years ago. Surviving are her husband, Edger Wilkes; a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Stevens, Fowler; six stepdaughters; four sons, Jack Knickerbocker, Oregon, James Knickerbocker, Belding, Arthur Wilkes, Germany, John Wilkes, Stanton; a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Wilkerson, Rockford; a brother, Laverne Lindley, England; two half borthers, Eugene and Bill Post, both of Spring Lake; 35 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir, the Rev. Doug Jones of Eureka Congregational Church officiating. Interment will be in Muir Cemetery.
