LaVern S. Winright, 93, died Saturday at a Belding hospital.  He was born on
Sept. 11, 1886, in Sand Lake, the son of Charles and Sarah Winright.  He was
married to Louise Ockert in 1938.  She died in April 1979.  Mr. Winright was a
farmer most of his life.  He lived in Lyons until moving to Belding in 1968.

Survivors include two sons, Charles of Belding and Walter of Sidney, a step-son,
Harvey Feathers of Belding; two daughters, Doris Morris of Saranac and Jean
Higbee of Lyons; five step-daughters, Vivian Jeffrey and Virginia Emmons, both
of Belding, Wilma Thorpe and Rosa Haigh, both of Grand Rapids, and Crystal Kirby
of Alabama; two sisters, Blanche Sanford of Newaygo and Nettie Vincent of Grand
Rapids; 41 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.  Six brothers and a sister
preceded him in death.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lyons Baptist Church with
Mr. Winright’s nephew, the Rev. Larry Vincent, officiating.  Burial will be in
the Oakhill Cemetery in Ionia.  Arrangements are being handled by the Hull
Memorial Chapel.
