Woodard, 74, of 602 West Lincoln died Sunday morning at Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids. Born April 4, 1895 in Berlin township, he was the son of Edgar and Charlotte Woodard. June 3, 1920 he was married in Ionia to Neva Holcomb by Rev. E.E. Branch. He was a member of First Christian church and also Veteran of World War I. It was a sergeant of Company D. 126th infantry, 32nd division where he served in the major war battles in France and Germany. He was also a member of American Legion and Ionia lodge 35 F & AM. Until the time of his death he was a salesman of cemetery memorials for several years. He owned and operated a farm in Easton township before returning to Ionia and the home in which he was married. Surviving are his wife, Neva, two sons Earl E. of Orleans and Rev. Wayne H. Woodard of Coldwater; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother, Orie L. of Grand Rapids. Mr. Woodard will be at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home until noon Wednesday when he will be taken to First Christian church for services at 2 p.m. Rev. Theodore Forbes will officiate and interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
