Donaldson Cemetery is located on Highway M-129 and 13 mile rd.   The cemetery is divided into two parts. One side is visible from the highway and the other is across the road (13 mile - dirt road) behind the Donaldson Presbyterian Church. This Cemetery is well-kept and the stones are in good condition.  It contained some rather old stones, dating anywhere from early 1800's to present.  It is still used for current burials. return to cemeteries index Neebish Island Cemeteries Site Inspection by Esther Thompson Both of the Neebish Island Cemeteries were located on dirt roads and easy accessible.  The Catholic one was located on Simonson Road on a small overlook and there was a residence next to it which looked like it might be a summer cabin.   It seemed to look like someone was keeping it up.  The gravesites had some grownup weeds around them, but the cemetery itself had been mowed.   I don't believe the cemetery is used that often, being the small amount currently there.  The last burial we recorded was of my great-aunt Nellie Flynn in 1998.  We noticed one broken cross with no name. The Neebish Island Presbyterian Cemetery is considerably larger, with approximately 75+ gravesites. It is located on Cumming Road.  The Church is located on the property and the cemetery is behind it. This cemetery also looks to be kept in good condition.  A majority of the graves were legible, with very few unmarked.  There were current burials here which indicated it is still widely used. We were able to drive into both cemeteries a short distance and then we walked the rest. return to cemeteries index Oaklawn Chapel Gardens Site Inspection Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Corporation Owned By Esther Thompson SITE INSPECTION:  Large Cemetery located on M-129 near Sault Ste. Marie, holding several hundred gravesites. The burials in the cemetery are not older than probably 50 years.  A small chapel is set in the center of the cemetery and at one end is the main office which is open seven days a week.  The cemetery is well maintained on a regular basis and is one of the largest and most attractive in Chippewa County.    It contains about a dozen large statues and monuments for viewing.   There are Memorial Services held at the cemetery annually for Veteran's Day, Memorial Day and Christmas. return to cemeteries index
