Country Estates – 26a

Hi-Point Plat – 36a

Oak Ridge Plat – 36c

Stowell Terrace Addition to Comstock Park – 36d

EXPLANATION OF CODE

A code letter has been designated for each description platted on the township or village map. This code appears both on the maps and Supervisor’s Ledge Sheet and is used for location purposes only.

Method of Coding Acreage Descriptions

The first two numbers of the code designate the section number. The capital letter is used to designate the acreage descriptions. The descriptions in each section have been coded consecutively and in section begins with letter "A" and continues with "B". "C", etc.

Following are examples of codes for acreage descriptions:

NE1/4 NE1/4 in Section 2

Coded as – 02 A

NW1/4 NE1/4 in Section 2
Coded as – 02 B

N1/2 NE1/4 in Section 12
Coded as – 12 A

Areas on the map bearing the following codes: U.P.D. or O
designate that the description is erroneous or that the area is missing on the tax rolls.

Method of Coding Recorded Plat Descriptions

Each recorded plat or part of a plat in each section has been designated by a small letter. The code beings with small letter "a" in each section and continues consecutively for the entire section.

The small letters "i", "l" and "o" have been omitted.
The first two numbers always designate the section number, the small letter following the section number designates the plat code as shown on the township or village map, the lot number follows the plat code, and the block number follows the lot number.

Following is an explanation of the code for lot 1 of Block A of the first plat coded in section 3:

Section 3 = 03
Plat Code – a

Lot Number – 1

Block Letter – A

The code is written on the Supervisor’s Ledge Sheet as follows: 03a 1-A

Method of Coding Lots Divided Into Two or More Parcels

Lots that have been divided into tow or more parcels shall be designated by sub-letters following the lot number. Also the number of parcels into which the lot has been divided shall be indicated by the number of dots following the code. Following are examples of codes of parts of lots:

E1/2 of Lot 5, Block 6, in Section 25, Plat a, would be coded as: 25a 5a-6..

W1/2 of Lot 5, Block 6, in Section 25, Plat a, would be coded as: 25a 5b-6..

STATUS OF DESCRIPTIONS

W – The description as copied on a white card from the Supervisor’s tax roll is correct.

WB – The description as copied from the tax roll was found to be erroneous and subject to rejection. This was designated by attaching a blue card to the white card.

WBP – The erroneous description as copied from the tax roll has been corrected and transferred to a pink card. All corrections have been made from deeds, earlier or later years tax rolls, government land office surveys, supervisors’ records and other official sources.

B – The areas found missing on the tax roll on the basis of the government land office survey or auditor general’s records were copied to a blue card and are designated by this symbol.

BP – Where this symbol appears it designates that the ownership of the missing area has been established or the description or descriptions located.
