New Big Rapids Teachers

Eleven teachers have joined the staff of the Big Rapids School system beginning this fall.

Robert Grubb, originally from Plymouth, is 25 years old and married. He will begin his first year of teaching in Big Rapids as auto mechanics teacher at the high school. He is a graduate from Ferris State College with a B.S. degree in Automotive Science.

Jean Illner is from Oakley and is married. She graduated from Central Michigan University in January, 1970 obtaining a B.A. degree. She previously taught at the Chesaning Elementary School, and later moved to Arizona where she taught for the /ft. Huachuca School system. She will be teaching second grade at Brookside Elementary School.

Pricilla Campbell graduated from Western Michigan University with a B.S. Degree and is presently working for her Master's Degree. She previously taught at Newberry High School, Sault Ste. Marie High, Shepherd High, South Haven High and recently did some substitute teaching at Big Rapids High School. She will be teaching Business Education in the high school program.

Rosemary Aukerman is 23 years old and her home town is Kalamazoo. She is a recent graduate of Olivet College, with a B.A. degree. She majpored in Art and minored in psychology and will be teaching elementary art.

Jacquelyn K. VanderVeen graduated from Michigan State University in June with a B.A. degree in English education. Her minor was in psychology. She will be teaching eighth grade English in the Intermediate School.

Colleen Cushway graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She previously taught in Pontiac and Mason and Evanston, Ill. This fall she will be teaching kindergarten at Hillcrest.

Phillip Long, Roscommon, is married and has four children. He did his undergraduate study at Alma College and obtained a bachelor of music education degree. Later he attended Central Michigan University and received his master of arts degree. Long formerly taught for the Gaylord Public School System. Westminster Choir School in Princeton, N.J., and the Pelston Public School. He will be the librarian at the high school this fall.

Sue Marsh is 22 years old, a graduate of Ferris State College with an associate of arts degree and Central Michigan University with a B.A. degree. She was a teacher's aide during the summer of 1970. She will be assigned to teach kindergarten at the Eastwood Elementary School beginning this fall.

Janice VanKrevelen is a graduate of Michigan State University with majors in math and science and minors in English and Science. She will be teaching math and science for fourth and fifth grades at Riverview Elementary School.

Karin Edlund is 22 years of age and is originally from Muskegon. She attended Muskegon Community College and graduated from Central Michigan University with a B.A. in elementary education. She made the dean's list for four years and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary fraternity and was on the national honor society. She will be teaching elelemtary education.

Hancy Howell moved to Big Rapids in December, 1970. She is a graduate of Marion College, Marion, Ind., with a B.S. in elementary education. She recently taught for the Big Rapids School System as a Counselor Aide. During the past school year she was employed by Ely School. She will be an elementary teacher this fall.
