Company B, 28th Michigan Infantry
John enlisted as a Corporal on March 29, 1864, at Albion, Michigan, for 3 years of service at age 36. He took the muster oath on September 5, 1864. He was classified as a Musician in October of 1864 and acting Sergeant Major in November of 1865. Promoted to Sergeant and mustered out at Raleigh, North Carolina, on June 5, 1866.
