From Tuscola Co., Michigan, Absalom enlisted on October 14, 1861 at Saginaw, Michigan, for 3 years service at the age of 22 as an Artificer. He was then promoted to Corporal on March 1, 1864. He was taken prisoner near Brownsboro, Alabama, on May 1, 1864. Later released. He was discharged at the expiration of his term of service at Detroit, Michigan, on August 1, 1865. His postwar address was Ellington, Michigan.
