From Oronoko, Michigan, Ludovick enlisted at the age of 20 for 3 years of service on August 8, 1862. He took the muster oath on September 10, 1862. He was promoted to Corporal on March 30, 1863, then to Sergeant on May 14, 1864. He mustered out at Salisbury, North Carolina, on June 24, 1865. He relocated to Dallas, Texas, after the war and died on January 18, 1901, and is buried there in the Greenwood Cemetery, Lot #37, Space #8.
