Michael was from Lansing, Michigan, enlisting on August 8, 1862 at Detroit, Michigan, for 3 years os service at the age of 20. He reached the Regiment at Upton Hill, Virginia, on September 8, 1862. He was transferred to Company F, 5th Michigan Infantry on July 10, 1864. He was discharged at Washington, District of Columbia, on May 31,1865. He is buries in Mt Hope Cemetery at Lansing, Michigan.
