Father Thomas M. Brady

15th Michigan Infantry Chaplain

     Father Thomas M. Brady  was born in Derrydoon, Fermanagh, Ireland in 1824, the son of John and Bridget Brady.  He studied for the priesthood in Buffalo, New York, and was ordained there in 1854.  He served New York parishes of St. Patrick's, Buffalo, St. Patrick's Seneca Falls, and St. Mary's, Medina, before transferring to Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1860 where is was pastor of St. Andrews.

     As the 15th Infantry was being organized he accepted a request to be chaplain on January 1, 1862.  He mustered on March 13, 1862, and mustered out at Little Rock, Arkansas on August 13, 1865
