School commenced last Monday morning.

Mrs. C. Burney of Cadillac is here visiting Mrs. Dr. Brown.

Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Carr arrived home last Saturday from Grand Rapids.

S. P. Anderson of the firm of Lawson and Anderson went to Grand Rapids on Monday.

Vernor Cutler was here from Grand Rapids last week, visiting hius father, G. F. Cutler.

Mr. Vorce's friends who were here visiting, from Ovid, returned to their home last Monday Morning.

Mr. Armstrong, whose ability as a butcher is wide spread, is at home, and will be found at his stand, No. 2 Fourth avenue.

Wellington JOnes jas just received a large assortment of glassware, and is now ready to trade queensware for all the rags that may be offered.

One of the ladies of the village, whose husband buys her two pounds of cany a week, was heard to remark that she was not fond of sweet-meats.

Hunter Case is suffering very much from rheumatism, and will give a liberal sum to any one who will furnish him a remedy that will effect a perfect cure.

Henry Henbecker, who got badly hurt in Wright & Zimmer's lumber camp, is still in a precarious condition, and fears are entertained concerning his recovery.

Cook & Jones have removed their office from the corner of First street to the corner of Third street, near their mill, which is a much more desirable location for them.

The social party of Orrin Hill's, which terminated in a dance, last Thursday night, was a very pleasant affair. Mr. and Mrs. Hill received the compliments of all present for knowing how to entertain their guests.

Miss Katy Cahikk is recovering micely from diptheria, which she has had in the worst form. Miss Etta Sand, who helped take care of her, is now suffering from the same diseasae, but, under the treatment of Dr. Brown, is doing as well as can be expected.

Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Elder of Sand Lake visited their daughter, Mrs, M. Wood, Sunday.

Gerrit Fitzgerald of East Lansing spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fitzgerald.

Frank Vorce made a business trip to Big Rapids Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Ely of Ludington spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.U. Burgess.

Mrs. Howard Soper has been ill.

Dr. C.F.B. Stowell and son, Frank motored to Ann Arbor to attend the football game Saturday.

Mrs. Charles Stinson of Amble called at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. H.A. Carr Thursday.

Mrs. Harl Howe spent Saturday with Mrs. Fred Holcomb at Big Rapids.

Mrs. Ray Gilder and Mrs. Barnes of Plymouth spent last weekend at the W. F. Turner home.

Mrs. Arthur Carr and children of Flint are visiting Rev. and Mrs. H.A. Carr.

Mrs. Erie King who has been ill, is improving.

Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Hamilton of Toronto, Canada, called at the Thurkow home last Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd DeYoung will attend the funeral of his sister, Mrs. Arthur Burkhart, who has been residing at Huntington W. Va. Funeral services will be at Grand Rapids Tuesday and burial will be at Crystal.

A group of about 25 friends and relatives gathered at the home of Dudley Irwin Wednesday for a surprise birthday part in honor of Miss Alma Irwin for her birthday. Refreshments were served and many fine gifts were received. A fine time was had by all.

Mrs. Flora Carpenter of Grand Rapids spent Sunday with the Rev. and Mrs. H.A. Carr.

Miss Elaine Force and Miss Helen Rug motored to Farwell for the weekend.

Miss Hollice Savage spent the weekend at her home in Decatur.

H.U. Burgess went to Sidney Saturday to visit his sister who had the misfortune of falling nd breaking her leg Saturday noon.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bell and family spent the weekend at Kalkaska.

Miss Elinor Barr and Miss Britten will spend the weekend at Owosso.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Arndt and family of Grand Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. August Ardnt of this vicinity visited relatives and friends in Fenton and Flint.

Clyde Post spent the weekend in Grand Rapids.

The Monday-nite Bridge club met at the home of Mrs. J.B. Pettie.

Miss Barr and Miss Britten are planning to attend the M.S.C. Temple game at East Lansing Saturday.

Mrs. Wm. Ardnt has been visiting her daughter and husband Mr. and Mrs. Walter Weber at Maple Valley.
