Leendert Willem RIETKERK, Americanized to Leonard William RIETKERK, was married to USA citizen Anna KARSABOOM of Byron Center, Michigan....They resided the latter part of their lives on a farm in Kalamazoo County, in Alamo Township...... He was remarried after Anna's death, to Oscalena Lingbeck BOSMA. He passed away in April of 1952..... Anna in 1925 ........ Martha RIETKERK PLUNKETT died in 1954....... These Rietkerks are buried in the Alamo Cemetery, Alamo Michigan. Bernardus RIETKERK died in June 1964 and is buried in Plainwell Cemetery with his granddaughter, Diane Francis OSBORN who died in September, 1970 at age 5. (see preceding query for more info)

I have three items relating to an "M. BARNEA", who I believe was a citizen of Kalamazoo, MI during the Civil War. I think he joined the 1st MI Light Artillery, Battery G,also called the 7th MI Light Artillery, and that he was wounded at Chickasaw Bayou in December 1862. He has a descendant, either a son or a grandson, named Theodore Monroe BARNEA, Jr, who was born on Sept. 12, 1912 in Kalamazoo. I am looking for any information on the Barnea who served in the Civil War, and also the connection between him and the gentleman born in 1912. Any help/information would be greatly appreciated. The only information I could find on the web was at Ancestry.Com, where they list Theodore BARNEA, Jr as having married Beverly HUGHSON in Kalamazoo, year not listed. Theodore died in 1990.

I'm searching for ancestors and descendants of Sam LAMBERT and Rachel MCGUIRE. Sam married Rachel in 1889; Carter, Kentucky. They moved to Mancelona, Michigan approximately 1909 and remained there the rest of their lives. They had twelve children--some of their names are Ethel, Kay, Helen, Ray, Elmer, Lucielle, Ruth, and my great-grandfather Oscar F. Lambert. Oscar Lambert was born in Carter, Kentucky, moved to Michigan with Sam and Rachel, served in World War I, then married Mae RUIMVELD of Kalamazoo, MI. Oscar retired from the Michigan Laundry Co. Oscar and Mae lived in Kalamazoo the rest of their lives. Oscar and Mae had four children�Oscar Jr., Lucielle, William. And my grandfather Jurien Paul.

My mother's father, Kenneth CAMERON was a Canadian soldier during WWII, stationed here in Eastbourne, East Sussex, England. He married my grandmother and they had my mother Julie in 1944. I am actually searching for his Mother who was, I believe, born in February 1882 "in the state of Michigan near Kalamazoo" (from a newspaper article in 1972). Her name was Sylvia HARVEY and she went to live in Elgin near Huntingdon near Quebec when she was five. This was her mother's parents home as her father had died "a few years after her birth". She married Charles CAMERON in 1904, and had 6 children, including Kenneth, in 1918. Charles died in 1936 and she remarried in 1958 to Sidney WELLS of Huntingdon who died in 1966.

Seeking information on James E. LYNN who died January 22, 1870 in Ross, Kalamazoo County, MI. The MI Death Index indicates that he was 30 years old at the time of his death and that he was born in Ohio. Could this be the same James LYNN who was born in Rootstown/Brimfield, Portage County, Ohio to William and Maria (CADY) LYNN? This James LYNN was in the 7th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War and family members claim moved to Kalamazoo after the war. He had a sister, Jenette who died in 1862 and is buried in Brimfield.

Seeking information on a St Luke's Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I have a copy of an 1876 marriage certificate of my Luke ESKES to one Emma PIPER. It was an Episcopal church and the marriage paper says "in the village of Kalamazoo". The name of the diocese is written too - but is not readable. I'd like to know: 1) is the church still around? 2) are there sets of parish records available for searching other family baptisms, marriages, deaths, etc? (for what years...) 3) microfilmed and at FHC? Originals at church (if still there) - in an archive - destroyed - what? Anyone know anything about this church in particular or episcopal church record keeping practices in general?

I am researching the desecendents of William ADDY (m. 1768 DE). In the SSDI, I found someone named Forest ADDY, b. 10 Feb 1903, d. Oct 1970. The last know address was Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Co, MI. SS# 383-58-1384. Is there anyone in the Kalamazoo area that knew, or remembers Forest ADDY? I would like to know how Forest came to be in Kalamazoo Co, MI, and the names of his/her parents. Looking for the marriage license of James Charles PETTY and Lenna (LANG) LIGGETT m. abt 31 august 1940. The wedding annocenment in the paper say they were married in St. Louis when I contact St. Louis County and St. Charles County Mo. they had no record of the marriage, Kalamazoo has no record of their marriage. James ran the monument shop down on River Street in Kalamazoo before he died on 04 August 1949. I have James's first Marriage license that states his mother's maiden name was GRANGER, but family members and the obt. of her's states it is EDWARDS. I would like to find which name it is. I thought maybe the second marriage license might give me a clue. James's parents lived and died in Gobles, Mi. any help would be appreciated.
