HOPKINS TOWNSHIP

HOPKINS TOWNSHIP. First settlers arrived in 1838. The township was first a part of the township of Otsego; Dorr, Hopkins and Watson were separated in 1842 and organized under the name of Watson; later Dorr and Hopkins were organized under the name of Dorr, and in 1852 the board of supervisors ordered a separate township known as Hopkins. The first road was laid out in 1840 in Hopkins. The village was established about 1856, and incorporated in 1920. The hamlet of Hilliards, named for an early settler, was established in 1860. |

A Woman stalled her car at a traffic light. She tried
desperately to start the engine, while behind her an impatient man rudely honked
his horn. Finally, the woman got out and walked back to the honker.
"I'm sorry," she said to the man, "but I can't start my car. If you'll start it
for me, I'll stay here and honk your horn.
A boy sought a job in a drugstore.
"Your name?" asked the druggist,
"Patrick Henry."
"That's a pretty well-known name, isn't it?"
"It ought to be," the boy said, "I've been delivering groceries around this
neighborhood for two years."
